"We underestimated the power of the Biebs." "He's clearly a mini God."

I am very pleased to say that Glee won me back over this week. As I'm sure you could tell from my last Glee related post, I was starting to worry that the show had run its course, but alas, those crazy kids reminded me why I do really love the show.

Let's break it down, shall we?

Sue was up to crazy antics, as per usual, but they didn't annoy me as much this week as they have been. Her "Sue-icide" attempt was pretty clever and I'm glad it gave a reason to get Emma some more screen time. I've been missing her lately!

I LOVE that Glee tackled Bieber Fever. Who better than pretty boy Sam to make the girls swoon over a hair flip. Way to reel Quinn back in! I was dying over the guys in their hoodies and Bieber hair-dos and the girls swooning over them. Finn's "WTF?" face during the performance was classic.

Brittany helping Rachel with her comeback was pretty great too. I loved that she was able to make Rachel's "sexy school girl librarian chic" look the new trend, going so far as to becoming one of my favorite bloggers/street style photographers, Scott Schuman's "Trendiest Teen in America."

Finally, I have to admit I didn't realize how much I loved the big performances at the end of each episode until I realized how much I'd missed them this week. Even though I wasn't a huge fan of the song choice, it was still refreshing to see New Directions all together for the finale of the episode.

Speaking of songs, here are the few that were my faves of the week:

I'll leave you with a question. What happened to Vocal Adrenaline? I understand that they're not the only other Glee club (outside of the Warblers) but aren't they New Directions MAIN competition? Why is Sue becoming the head coach (or director or whatever) of Oral Intensity? I don't even really remember who they are.... Anyway, looking forward to next week. I'm glad to have re-caught the Gleever.

Until next time... xo

"I don't wanna die yet. At least not until One Tree Hill gets canceled."

Well Gleeks, the kids at McKinley High are back from sabbatical and leave it to New Directions to come back with a bang. Or should I say the Cheerios are back with a bang? Regardless, after a long absence we were finally treated to not one but TWO new episodes of Glee this week. Including the post-Super Bowl, football themed episode.

As per usual, there are songs now in heavy rotation on my iPod BUT I have to say, the past few weeks have been a little bit meh, in my opinion. Since I'm a glass half full kind of gal, I will start with the GOOD of the past two episodes.

The Good
Post Super Bowl episodes are always a spectacle, and Glee held its own among past shows. Rachel and Puck's duet of Need You Now and New Direction's Thriller/Heads Will Roll mash-up were both highlights of the episode.

And lucky us, we only had to wait two days for a new episode, so that's always good! This week's other new episode may have been the cheesiest holiday Valentine's Day-centric, but I have to say, it was definitely more entertaining than the Super Bowl episode. It was fun to see scheming jealous Santana and Puck wooing newbie Lauren. Plus, one of my favorite songs of the moment was covered wonderfully by Rachel.

The Bad
Other than that, not many great things to talk about, sadly. I'm HOPING Glee hasn't jumped the shark because that would be pretty unfortunate. Why has Kurt pretty much vanished behind Blaine and the Warblers? Where have Emma and Terri been? Since when are Rachel and Mercedes BFFs? Are they really already recycling the Finn/Quinn/Rachel love triangle?

Don't get me wrong! I am definitely not ready to throw in the towel on Glee. I'm HOPING that the coming weeks will remind me why I fell in love with the crazy kids of New Directions. Like I said, I'm a glass half full gal so I'm very confident that that will be the case!

Until next time... xo

"I know you're lonely, but you're not alone."

I wanted to post a quick update to last week's Glee wrap up. Thanks to my dear friend Shawna, I was shown the inspiration of the amazing duet by Lea Michele's Rachel Berry and Chris Colfer's Kurt Hummel.

It is amazing to me how perfectly they were able to recreate this magical moment that took place almost 50 years ago. They can sing Barbara and Judy every week from now on and I'll be happy!

Until next time... xo

"I think you and I are more similar than you think." "That's a terrible thing to say."

Glee this week had me a little confused. I get what they were trying to accomplish...bringing back the Finn/Kurt homophobia issue, showing us that Santana and Brittany are indeed more than just good girlfriends, giving Quinn a new love interest, etc. but there was something about this episode that I just didn't like as much as I usually LOVE the episodes. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate that they're continuing to bring more depth to the show and some of the duets were incredible, but like I said, it just left me a little confused.

Regardless, there were still 2 songs that have been in heavy rotation on my iPod since Tuesday night, so I wanted to share.

Rachel and Kurt's duet/mash-up gave me goosebumps! Lea Michele and Chris Colfer are ridiculously talented and watching this made me wish I had 1% of the amount of talent they have.

Divas Santana and Mercedes had me dancing on my couch with their fantastic, fun performance. I totally would have voted for them if I were a member of New Directions.

I know I've said this about 100 times now, but I am so freaking excited about the Rocky Horror episode in 2 weeks. I only wish it was coming sooner!!

Rachel and Finn as Janet and Brad, Kurt as Riff Raff and my new crush Sam Evans as Rocky. I wonder who's playing Dr. Frank-N-Furter. I'm shivering from the antici........pation.

Until next time... xo

"When I pulled the sandwich out, I saw the face of God. Literally."

While I usually reserve my Tuesday night emotion-fest for my 45 minutes with the drama filled One Tree Hill crew, this week Glee threw me a curve ball with its extremely emotional episode, Grilled Cheesus. This is what I love about Glee. They can do something completely hilarious and not-so-deep, albeit super fun, one week with Britney and nitrous oxide fantasies, and then go completely the other direction by having an episode devoted to spirituality and God. I really believe Chris Colfer proved to everyone this week why he was nominated for an Emmy. Everything about his performance was gut-wrenching, heart-breaking and every other compound word relating to emotion.

We were treated to some chill-inducing performances by both Rachel and Mercedes this week. What I wouldn't give to have a voice like either of theirs. On the comedy side, we had some hilarious moments from Finn, who found Jesus in his grilled cheese. Apparently when that happens, you get three wishes, like a genie, in which Finn used to his advantage.

Songs of the week: Rachel's (doing Ms. Streisand once again) Papa Can You Hear Me and Kurt's I Want To Hold Your Hand.

Next week looks to be another fun filled episode, with the return of new hottie Sam Evans. Did I see a spark between him and Quinn in the preview??

Until next time... xo

"I would just like to say that from now on I demand to have every solo in glee club."

If there are two things that will make any pop culture junkie, such as myself, happy, they are Glee and Britney Spears. Combine them together and you get an amazing hour of television, with many more hours of music to follow.

Another episode in the bag and it did not disappoint. I have to admit, I was a bit bummed to see one of my favorite Britney songs, Stronger, sung by someone other than Rachel, but I'll let it slide. I was so happy to see Terri back, albeit briefly, stirring up trouble, and the addition of John Stamos, better known as Uncle Jesse, as Will's new nemesis. And, even though I love Rachel Berry/Lea Michele, it's always fun to see other characters getting the spotlight. Who knew Brittany had such chops? Although, I suppose Britney Spears songs aren't the hardest in the world, but I wouldn't be able to rock them the way she did.

How PERFECT was Rachel's rendition of Baby One More Time? It matched the original video to a T! Not to mention Brittany's Slave and Brittany and Santana's Me Against The Music. I kept thinking I was watching the actual videos, not the Gleeks performing them. Check them all out HERE. I knew Heather Morris (Brittany) could dance, considering she used to tour with Beyonce and was hired for the show originally to choreograph the Single Ladies number, but she was BANANAS in each of her Britney fantasies. If I start dancing, will I get abs like hers?

Now for my favorite songs:

Rachel's spot on Baby One More Time.

New Direction's Fosse-esque Toxic.

Rachel's (I realize this wasn't Britney) breathtaking The Only Exception.

Next week should be interesting...religion and a possible death. Looks like Ryan Murphy has no problem with the "hard" stuff. Maybe Brittany will have the opportunity to have her Ke$ha moment too.

Until next time... xo

"We need chorus glee club members, people to stand behind me with wet eyes while I sing solos."

Welcome back to McKinley High gleeks! A new season is upon us, with so many more songs to add to my iPod. I think this goes without saying, but I wanted to give a quick spoiler alert for those of you who haven't seen this new episode yet...but, come on. How could you not have?

The new season begins with Finn and Rachel together and in love, Mr Shue and Sue Sylvester new BFFs, Tina and Mike Chang together after falling in love at Asian camp and Artie heartbroken, Quinn back on the Cheerios to Santana's dismay and lots of new characters! We have a new nemesis for Sue, football coach Shannon Beiste, new hottie Sam Evans and a new diva Sunshine Corazon (better look out Rachel!).

Now, the majority of the episode was pretty wonderful, with the exception of some of the rapping, which they can't seem to get rid of (although, I did like the singing in both songs that included rapping, but I digress...), but the best part of the episode revolved around Rachel's Sunshine freakout. Not only do they share an amazing duet in the ladies room, leading to Rachel sending Sunshine to a crack house instead of the New Directions audition, but we also get chill inducing solos from each.

As per usual (and by usual I mean what I did last season), enjoy my favorite songs from the episode!

I am SO ecstatic that Rachel drove Sunshine to join Vocal Adrenaline. They really do need a new star now that Jesse St. James has graduated (single tear). This should make for some very exciting New Directions/Vocal Adrenaline competition.

Oh, and I cannot wait for next week's Britney episode. Seeing Rachel in the classic red track pants/yellow sports bra and school girl/pigtails makes me itch with anticipation. And, I just heard the most amazing news: SYTYCD's very own Adam Shankman is directing the Rocky Horror Picture Show themed episode...the theme in itself exciting enough! I have a feeling this season is going to be pretty incredible!

Until next time... xo

"Gossip Girl here. Your one and only source into the scandalous lives of Manhattan's elite."

This week not only marks one of the most fun weeks of the year for me (my birthday week!) but also the return of some of my favorite shows. And, it keeps going through next week, as well, with not only returning shows, but the new shows I'm very excited to see. I keep saying I love this time of year, but I really just can't help getting giddy over new episodes of my favorites.

I figured that I'd do a quick rundown of what happened in the season finales of my shows (don't even get me started on the True Blood finale last night) and my hopes for the new season. Shall we begin? OK...in order of premiere date/time.

Gossip Girl - Monday, 9/13 @ 9

Last spring: Blair finally decides to take Chuck back, only to find out moments after his proposal that he slept with Lil' J that night before. Serena and Nate break up after Nate finds out she had kissed Dan. Dan is about to follow heartbroken Serena and Blair to Paris, only to be sidelined by Georgina's confession to him that she's pregnant and he's the father. And a heartbroken Chuck wallows away the loss of Blair in Prague, where he is mugged, shot and left for dead.

Here's what I hope happens this season: Serena and Blair find new guys in Paris (we need new blood in the male department in the Upper East Side) and forget about Dan/Nate and Chuck. I think we've had enough of Serena and Dan and Serena and Nate never seemed right to me. And as much as I loved Blair and Chuck together, it would be nice to see her with someone new. Dan should end up being the father of Georgina's baby. It will get him off his high horse a bit AND we'll get to see much more of Michelle Tracthenberg. I've heard rumblings of a Chuck has amnesia plot line, but I'm really hoping they don't go there. Also, I was so happy to see Lil' J leave the show, but I've been seeing pics of her on set lately. Let's hope she's just visiting her old cast mates.

One Tree Hill - Tuesday, 9/14 @ 8pm

Last spring: Nathan saves Haley from her deep depression over her mother's death and from a suicide attempt. Julian invites the whole gang to a film festival in Utah for the premiere of his and Alex's movie. After which, full of joy from the success, he proposes to Brooke. Finally back to her normal self, Haley finds out she's pregnant again. And, just when we think all's well in Tree Hill, Clay and Quinn are shot by crazy Katie.

Here's what I hope happens this season: I am really (really) hoping that they bring back the focus of this season to the original characters - Brooke, Haley, Nathan, Mouth, etc. Last year WAY too much time was spent on new characters Quinn and Clay, who in my opinion, added nothing to the show. Brooke will hopefully find the happiness and love she's always wanted with Julian and, since this may be the final season of the series, she'll end the season with a big wedding. Nathan and Haley just can't seem to catch a break lately. Last season began with them dealing with Nathan being blackmailed for an affair he took no part in, then Haley's mother passes away, now her sister, Quinn, could potentially be murdered. As much as it would make me happy to have Quinn and Clay out of the picture (harsh, I know), I just want things be happy for Nathan and Haley for once. I know, I know...happiness doesn't provide good drama, but if this is going to be the last season, I'd like to see good closure for my favorite characters.

Parenthood - Tuesday, 9/14 @ 10pm

Last spring: Unfortunately this was a quick season, as it was its first, and it was a mid-season show, so I'll do a season summary, rather than season finale. Sarah continually deals with the stress of being a single parent and moving her teenagers to a new town. And, the constant struggle of raising a teenage daughter, who has slept with her cousin's ex boyfriend and almost ran away. Adam and Kristina deal with raising a hormonal teenage daughter and an autistic son. Julia and Joel continue to juggle work and being a stay at home dad, respectively. Dax decides to move to NY to be with Jasmine and their son. And, patriarch Zeke tries to win back the love and trust of his wife, Camille.

Here's what I hope happens this season: Like I said, since this show is new, and there were so few episodes last season, I unfortunately don't have too much vision as to what may happen this year. I hope that Sarah and Amber work out their differences. And on that note, Amber and Haddie are able to get over the whole "she slept with my bf" situation and become friends again. Even though I think it's great that Dax wants to move to NY to be with Jasmine and Jabaar, I love the interaction between him and the rest of the Braverman crew, so hopefully something will happen to keep them all in Berkeley.

It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia - Thursday, 9/16 @ 10pm

Last spring: So this show doesn't exactly follow the whole what happened last week really matters this week formula, so I can't imagine anything that happened in the finale will have any effect on what happens in the new season. Basically, the gang got drunk, did something stupid and then got drunk again. All while being hilarious and offending everyone in their wake.

Here's what I'm hoping happens this season: The main thing I'm interested in seeing play out this season is the incorporation of Kaitlin Olson's pregnancy into the show. I'm pretty sure they've made Sweet Dee pregnant, which I can only imagine will allow for some completely ridiculous situations. Wouldn't it be great if they made Sweet Dee and Mac have a drunken one night stand that leads to her becoming pregnant? Then we'd get to see some great interactions from the real-life couple. And hey, while we're at it, even though there is no chance of this happening, let's have the waitress finally decide she likes Charlie. Doesn't he deserve a break, eventually? Oh, and let's make sure we have lots of Dennis time...doesn't really matter to me what it is.

Glee - Tuesday, 9/21 @ 8pm

Last spring: Rachel and Finn finally get together after an amazing, although not successful, Regionals performance. Quinn has her baby, who is then adopted by Rachel's birth mother, Shelby. Sue finally develops a bit of a warm spot for New Directions and finds a way for them to keep the club together. Mr. Shue and Emma share another kiss, even though she's supposedly dating her new dentist now.

Here's what I hope happens this season: Rachel and Finn get to stay together throughout the season, BUT only if Jesse St. James really isn't making a comeback. As much as I love aw shucks Finn, I can't get enough of bad boy Jesse. Plus, who could say no to wanting to see Jesse/Rachel duets every week. I hope Quinn is able to re-join the Cheerios and becomes sassy Quinn again, although maybe not bitchy-sassy. Just sassy. I hope they somehow find a way to keep Terri around, although maybe not a Terri/Will reunion. I just really love her character, and Jessalyn Gesslig. Plus, I'm hoping, and I've heard rumblings this is true, that the smaller characters (Puck, Mercedes, Kurt, Brittany, Santana, Artie and Tina) become much bigger this season. I mean, they pretty much did towards the end of the season, but let's keep it coming!

I guess that's all of them. I keep looking at the weekly TV schedules and there are so many shows, both new and old, that I am now wanting to add to my DVR's rotation. I only hope the poor thing can handle them all!

Until next time... xo

"As you know in fashion, one day you're in. And the next day, you're out."

Another award show come and gone! Although I had a few disappointments with winners and I was a bit underwhelmed by the fashion, there were still some hits of the night. I have to say, I was incredibly impressed with the opening number, and I was super excited to see CW darling Nina Dobrev taking part in the star studded video.

Check it out!

Moving on to the winners. It's a good thing I'm not a gambler and didn't put anything down on my picks because I failed miserably. Well, unless you could getting one out of 1 out of 10 right. That's not so bad, is it? A lot of newcomers took home the awards, with a few veterans also walking away winners. Here's a rundown of the winners:

Actor - Comedy: Jim Parsons, "Big Bang Theory"
Actress - Comedy: Edie Falco, "Nurse Jackie"
Actor - Drama: Bryan Cranston, "Breaking Bad"
Actress - Drama: Kyra Sedgwick, "The Closer"
Supporting Actor - Comedy: Eric Stonestreet, "Modern Family"
Supporting Actress - Comedy: Jane Lynch, "Glee"
Supporting Actor - Drama: Aaron Paul, "Breaking Bad"
Supporting Actress - Drama: Archie Panjabi, "The Good Wife"
Comedy Series - Modern Family
Drama Series - Mad Men

I guess that Jane Lynch was kind of a given, though, so that was an easy pick for me. I've been contemplating jumping on the Modern Family bandwagon for a while now, and I think all their success at this year's Emmys will finally push me over the edge to add it to my Netflix queue.

Now for the best part. The FASHION!! Like I said, I was a bit underwhelmed by the red carpet this year, but there were still a few that really stood out to me and I would definitely not turn down the opportunity to wear. Here are my top 10, starting with my absolute favorite:

1. Glee's Jayma Mayes in Burberry Prorsum and Neil Lane jewels.

2. Dexter's Julie Benz in Pamella Roland and Jacob & Co. jewels.

3. Glee's Lea Michele in Oscar De La Renta and Lorraine Schwartz jewels.

4. Best Actress in a TV movie winner, Temple Grandin's Claire Danes in Swarovski crystal encrusted, Giorgio Armani Prive.

5. Vampire Diaries' Nina Dobrev in Zuhair Murad and Chopard jewels.

6. Best Actress winner, the Closer's Kyra Sedgwick in Monique Lhuillier and Ofira jewels.

7. Kelly Osbourne in Tony Ward Couture and Martin Katz jewels.

8. Glee's Diana Agron in Carolina Herrera and Cartier jewels.

9. True Blood's Anna Paquin in Alexander McQueen and House of Lavande jewels.

10. Friday Night Lights' Connie Britton in Burberry and Neil Lane jewels.

Who knew the gal's from Glee would be able to shut it down like they did? I mean, Lea Michele has been killing it on the red carpet lately, so that was a bit of an obvious choice for best dressed lists, but I was SO impressed by Jayma Mayes. Her Burberry Prorsum, which I do typically love, was stunning and her styling was flawless. I can't wait to see what she brings to red carpets from now on.

Until next time... xo

I am very interested to see who walks away with each of these awards. I think each of the categories really are chock full of amazing nominees this year. Plus, I'm very much looking forward to seeing what fashion awaits the red carpet. I have no doubt in my mind that Lea Michele will "shut it down" as Rachel Zoe always says. And I still have high hopes that my fashion fave Cat Deeley will cross the pond and show up in something stunning, as per usual. Stay tuned for a fashion wrap up in the next few days!

Until next time... xo

"We're gonna win. You're gonna lose. Deal with it."

Today in Hollywoodland the stars of the TV universe woke up with either really good news or really bad news in the form of the 2010 Emmy Award nominations. There were two things that stood out to me: one good and one bad.

First of all, the good. I was very pleased to see all the love going out to one of my favorite new shows, Glee. Not only did Lea Michele, Matthew Morrison and Jane Lynch nab nominations for Best Actress, Best Actor and Best Supporting Actress, respectively, in a comedy series, as expected, BUT the amazing Chris Colfer, better known as Kurt Hummel, surprised us all with a Best Supporting Actor nomination. He has been one of my favorite characters on the show from the beginning with amazing one-liners, fabulous outfits and dance moves that would make even Beyonce proud!

Plus, amazing guest stars Kristin Chenoweth and Mike O'Malley scored best guest starring nominations. Oh, and I suppose them getting nominated for Best Comedy is king of a big deal too, I GUESS..... I'm going to go out on a limb and say that while Glee MAY not walk away with all of the awards they've been nominated for, I'm not too worried that they won't walk away with a few.

Now for the bad. Every award season people always go on and on and on about the biggest "snubs" of the year. In my opinion, as an entertainment and television expert (right?!), the one person that was majorly overlooked was the always lovely Cat Deeley of So You Think You Can Dance for Best Host of a Reality Competition Program.

Not only is she the most stylish host on TV (as I've mentioned before), she is, in my expert opinion, the most honest, fabulous host on TV and one of the main reasons I tune in every week to the show. Hopefully next year, she'll get the recognition she truly deserves. Who else was completely impressed and cheering to themselves when she stood up to the judges this week for giving undue praise to certain contestants while expecting too much from others (unlike some other host's unfunny banter with one of the judges...but I'm not naming names or anything...I'm talking to you Ryan Seacrest!!)?

I guess we'll just have to wait until August 29th to see who goes home happy and who goes home "happy to be nominated among a group of such talented actors" or in other words, not happy.

Until next time... xo

"You think Puck and Santana will acknowledge my existence if we're not in glee club together." "She has a point."

I don't even know where to begin about last night's episode of Glee. I can probably sum what I thought about it in two words: SIMPLY AMAZING!

Going in to the episode there were a few things that I was hoping would happen. I definitely haven't been secretive about my love for Jesse St. James, so my biggest hope was that he would end up sabotaging Vocal Adrenaline's performance and try to win back Rachel's heart in the end. Unfortunately, earlier in the day yesterday I read an interview Jonathan Groff gave about the filming of the episode and how it was his last. I guess there goes my hope of a Rachel/Jesse reconciliation. At least I still have hope that Glee provided the exposure necessary to make Jonathan Groff a big star.

Back to what actually happened.

We find out Sue is going to be a judge at Regionals; Mr. Shue and New Directions freak out and think they don't stand a chance to win; they realize it's not about winning but the "journey" and decide to do a medley of Journey songs for their performance; Quinn reconciles with her mother, goes into labor and rushes to the hospital with New Directions coming along for support; Vocal Adrenaline (well, Jesse mainly, with a bunch of past So You Think You Can Dance dancers backing him up) KILLS it with Bohemian Rhapsody; Quinn has a baby girl; Rachel and Shelby have a touching moment backstage about heart and family (where Shelby finds out about Quinn's new baby); the judges Olivia Newton John, Josh Groban, Rod Remington and Sue Sylvester debate about which group should win; Vocal Adrenaline ends up winning which leads to New Directions being forced to disband by Principal Figgins; Emma sticks up for glee leading to a revelation by Mr. Shue that he loves her, even though she's now dating her dentist; New Directions performs a touching thank you to Mr. Shue, witnessed by Sue; Sue decides that she'll give glee some of her Cheerios budget to keep them around another year; the show ends on a happy note with Mr. Shue and Puck singing Somewhere Over the Rainbow and all the glee clubbers happy!

That's that, in a very large nutshell. I really do think that this was the best episode of the season, which is appropriate, it being the finale and all. I'm not surprised that they had Vocal Adrenaline beat New Directions in the end...it really is too soon for them to be the "best." I was very happy to discover that Quinn's baby was being adopted by Shelby, meaning that Idina Menzel will hopefully be around a lot next season. I am very excited to see where season 2 takes us.

Now for the music. I pretty much loved every performance this week, so I'll include the studio versions of them all!

I'll leave you now as the crew at McKinley High left us for the summer, with Puck and Mr. Shue's lovely rendition of Somewhere Over the Rainbow:

Until Next time... xoxo

Wednesday, June 2, 2010

"They call it a funkification, meaning they show us what they've got and we spiral into a deep cloud of funk."

It's Wednesday, and we all know what that means. Time for my weekly Glee wrap up! Or "Hump Day" as Mr. Shue awkwardly pointed out last night.

I'm not the biggest fan of funk music which worried me a bit going in to the episode, considering it was called "Funk," but I was pleasantly surprised. Let's break it on down, shall we?

I have to say, I was nervous about what was happening with Jesse St. James when I saw the preview for this week's episode last week, and all my fears came true. Not only has he gone back to the dark side of Vocal Adrenaline, but he's also the ring leader of the destroy New Directions and Rachel Berry brigade. Poor girl just can't catch a break, can she? And while I am upset that Jesse is again the villain, he did kill it with his performance of Queen's Another One Bites the Dust.

Basically the episode revolved around getting the New Directions kids (and everyone else) out of their respective funks. New Directions being psyched out by Vocal Adrenaline, Mr Shue being threatened (again) by Sue Sylvester (which led to way too many awkward moments for my taste), Quinn dealing with the hardships of teen pregnancy, etc. I was pleased to see the Quinn got a solo song this week, as she hasn't really had much spotlight on her singing, rather than her pregnancy, before. While she may not have the chops of Rachel or Mercedes, she still threw down with an amazing performance of James Brown's It's a Man's Man's Man's World.

I'm not really going to go in to the whole Mr. Shue/Sue Sylvester seduction, because I don't really think Shue played this one right at all. I can see why he thought that leading her on would be a good way to get back at her, but I also think in the end it just made him look like a jerk. Hasn't he learned that you can't fight fire with fire? Puck and Finn were almost expelled at the beginning of the episode by doing so. Which also led to some classic Mrs. Robinson moments with Finn and Terri Schuester at Sheets and Things.

Also, loved that Sue had Kurt do a 14 minute long Celine Dion solo (all in French) to win the Cheerio's 6th national championship! If only they had shown a teeny bit of it. And, speaking of Kurt, his defense of Rachel after she's egged by Jesse and Vocal Adrenaline, led to another great one-liner, "Rachel's one of us - we're the only ones who get to humiliate her."

Anyway, as the episode wraps up we see New Directions finally figuring out what it is that they can do to beat Vocal Adrenaline in the end: FUNK! Apparently Vocal Adrenaline are "souless automatons" so they are unable to perform this style of music. The tables are turned in the end when New Directions invites Vocal Adrenaline to watch them in their newest funk number.

All in all, another solid Glee episode. I'm really looking forward to next week's season finale. Maybe Jesse St. James will realize the wrong he's done and come back over to the good side. Doubtful, but a girl can dream!

Until next time... xo

"My mom won't even let me watch Twilight. She says she thinks Kristen Stewart seems like a bitch."

As per usual, I thoroughly enjoyed last night's episode of Glee. I'll admit, it wasn't my favorite, but I'm wondering if that's due to the fact that I MAY have over-hyped it a bit in my head considering it was a combination of two of my favorite things of the moment: Glee and Lady Gaga. AND, I didn't even know it would include so many references to one of my other favorite things: vampires!

Let's recap the best parts of the night, shall we?

As I said before, I had no idea this episode would also include so many references to one of the biggest crazes of the moment, vampires...and specifically, Twilight. The episode starts out with Tina being called into Principal Figgins' office because he thinks she's a vampire and wants her to change her look. In the end, Tina rebels against Figgins' wishes because without her look, she feels lost. One of the best moments is when she convinces him that she and her family are indeed vampires, but not only that, her father is the head of the vampires, so he backs down and let's her dress as she pleases. Maybe Figgins should take his own advice and stop reading so much Twilight!

Moving along to my other obsession: Gaga!

New Directions' assignment this week was Lady Gaga and the ladies of the club really went all out. Who knew a bunch of high school kids were so handy with a sewing machine? With the exception of Rachel, whose two gay dads stapled stuffed animals onto a dress for her (that sounds dangerous, no?), all the girls, and Kurt, threw together pretty amazing Lady Gaga outfits overnight. All this led to the best song of the night. And, by the way, who else thinks Santana needs more solos?

Luckily for Rachel, once she realized Shelby was her mother, she was able to have her help create a much better outfit. Which brings me to my final thought. Indina Menzel and Lea Michele are both incredible singers and every time I listen to their original duet, I Dreamed A Dream, I get chills. Ryan Murphy - I have a request. Can we please keep Shelby around for a while and have Shelby/Rachel duets more regularly? Thanks!

Anyway, I really did love their Poker Face, however I couldn't help but wonder whether or not they should have done a different song. Speechless perhaps? I feel as though that song would have been more appropriate for the moment. If I'm not mistaken, I'm pretty sure Lady Gaga wrote that song for her father. Regardless, Rachel and Shelby together created another beautiful duet that I know will be playing constantly on my iPod.

All in all, I was very pleased with the episode and I can't wait for next week. Looks like Terri will finally make her return and will surely be there to stir up trouble! And did I see that Jesse St. James will be back in Vocal Adrenaline?? Just when you think he was actually there to do good, we're slapped with cold, hard reality that he was indeed just playing a game.

Until next time... xo

"Do you wanna hear my research that proves my mother is Bernadette Peters? "

Apparently this is becoming a theme: my weekly Wednesday gush about the previous night's episode of Glee.

What do you get when you combine Glee, Joss Whedon, Neil Patrick Harris and Idina Menzel? Amazingness! That's what. Pretty much the moment they announced Idina Menzel would be appearing on Glee, I think everyone knew she would end up being Rachel Berry's birth mother. How could she not? They look almost identical. I'm so glad that they decided to make Jesse St. James' infiltration into New Directions a way to help Rachel discover that Shelby was indeed her mother, rather than to help it implode.

And how outrageous was Neil Patrick Harris' Bryan Ryan? I don't watch How I Met Your Mother (although I'm told that I should), but I am a fan of NPH and I was very excited to hear that he'd be on the show. His duets with Mr. Shue, both the Piano Man in the bar and the Dream On audition for Les Mis, were incredible. I had no idea he had such amazing chops!

As per usual, here are my two favorite songs from the night:

As a MAJOR Lady Gaga fan, I can't wait for next week's episode, featuring her songs. And, I can't wait for Kurt's rendition of Bad Romance!

Until next time... xo

"Oh, I could play it straight! Oh please, look at you! Look at the way you're holding your glass!"

Now, I'm not usually one to get all ranty when I see politically incorrect things, but I was particularly disturbed by an article in Newsweek that was brought to light yesterday, mainly due to a response from Kristin Chenoweth.

For those of you who may not have heard about this yet, one of Newsweek's staff writers wrote an article titled "Straight Jacket: Heterosexual actors play gay all the time. Why doesn't it ever work in reverse?" (Click HERE for the full article) In it, he basically says that openly gay actors shouldn't be considered for straight, leading men rolls, with the start of his argument discussing Sean Hayes' (best known as Jack from Will & Grace) roll in the Broadway play Promises, Promises. I don't really know much about the show, but apparently his character is an advertising exec who is in love with his female co-worker, played by Kristin Chenoweth. He also briefly touches on Glee's newest heartthrob, Jonathan Groff, among others, who plays Lea Michelle's love interest, Jesse St. James (who, incidentally, also played her love interest in the Broadway musical Spring Awakening).

Here's where the problem lies, in my opinion. Why can't they? Straight actors have been winning awards and accolades for playing gay characters for years. Why should it be so hard to believe the opposite?

Isn't the point of acting that the actor completely disregards their own persona to become a particular character? I'm not a theater person, but I think that's a pretty good layman's definition of acting. If you're arguing that since the public knows this particular individual to be an out, proud gay man, then there's no way he can be believable, shouldn't the argument extend to actors who are known not to be the same nationality of characters they're portraying? There are tons of television and movie actors who use false accents or even play an ethnicity other than their own, but you don't hear much in the way of backlash against that.

The writer of the article has been in major hot water over the past two days and a big part of his defense, of the Sean Hayes comments specifically, is that, in his opinion, the New York Times agreed with him, without saying so specifically. I guess that all depends on how deeply you want to read into the comments of the newspaper's critic. Click HERE for the full NYT review.

I completely believe that everyone is entitled to their own opinions about things, to each their own or whatnot, and I'm really not usually one to get up on my soapbox to discuss these kinds of things, but as I mentioned before, for whatever reason this really hit a nerve with me.

OK. Rant over. I know when I'm watching Glee tonight I won't be thinking about Jonathan Groff's sexuality, but rather how much I wish Jesse St. James was singing directly to me!

Until next time... xo

"Daddy please don't. It wasn't his fault. He means so much to me."

I couldn't resist posting this!

For those of you who saw Glee this week, you saw the amazingness that is Rachel Berry's "Run Joey Run" music video. I've been checking almost everyday this week for the actual video, as opposed to just the song, and to my delight and surprise, I found it!

Enjoy!

Oh, and I also discovered that the May 18th episode will include a song that is one of my favorite Scrubs moments:

"I'm ironically turned on by your bad boy image, but let's keep this professional."

I must say, last night's episode of Glee has got to be up there as one of my favorites. Usually I judge each episode by how many of its songs I end up listening to on repeat the following day, and while this one only had 2 that I really really loved, as a whole it was just incredibly fun to watch.

I am pleased to see that all the characters are getting their time in the spotlight in each episode. Especially pleased to see more of Brittany and Santana! But still, my favorite musical moments of the episode starred Rachel and the boys, Finn, Puck and (my newest crush) Jesse St. James.

And, although it looked like the cast was having a lot of fun jamming and dancing to Ice Ice Baby, I must plead this to the writers: Please don't let Mr. Shue rap anymore! I cringed during his Gold Digger rendition earlier in the season and I cringed again watching him this week. As much as I do love him (how hot did he look at the Met Gala??), he is no Eminem. Stick to regular singing Mr. Shue!!

"Being a part of something special makes you special, right?"

OK. I promise this will be my last post about Glee this week! That is unless something incredibly exciting happens in the next few hours....

Over the years, we've been treated to many flash mob performances, from international pillow fights to silent discos, with thousands of participants. And now, since the phenomenon known as Glee has spread over the world, Glee flash mobs have been in full effect.

In December of last year shoppers in Rome, Italy were treated to this one:

And last weekend, about 1,000 people in Seattle assembled to bring us this one:

Pretty cool, if you ask me.

"Life is a mystery, everyone must stand alone, I hear you call my name, and it feels like home."

The full studio version of Like a Prayer from the Madonna themed episode of Glee has hit the internet!

Enjoy!

Pretty amazing, if you ask me. I can't wait for more! Can't you tell from all my exclamation points? The episode airs next Tuesday, 4/20 at 9pm on Fox.

Until next time... xo
