Call Your Girlfriend

I'm pretty obsessed with Swedish pop singer Robyn. Her concert at the Warfield a few years ago was one of the most fun nights ever that I wish I could relive over and over again.

Yesterday over on BuzzFeed I stumbled upon an amazing cover (of a cover) of one of my favorite songs from her Body Talk album. These girls are 12 and 8 and are pretty incredible. They need to be given a record contract immediately!

Here is the original song:

Enjoy!

Some TV to Tide You Over

For TV lovers like myself, summer can find us missing some of our favorite weekly shows while they're on hiatus. I've been having conversations lately with friends about what they can watch to tide themselves over until fall and I decided to come up with a list. I'm only including new shows, because catching up on anything longer than one season can be a tad aggressive.

Revenge. Who doesn't love a good night-time soap? Plus, mega rich people destroying other mega rich people's lives, all while looking fabulous is always fun to watch.

Don't Trust the B---- in Apartment 23. Girls behaving badly and James Van Der Beek as "James Van Der Beek" is quite the combination. Plus, Krysten Ritter has been deserving of her own show for a long time now!

Hart of Dixie. Rachel Bilson oozes charm on her own. Add some hot Southern men and small town shenanigans and you have a Gilmore Girls-esque weekly treat.

Ringer. Unfortunately, SMG's return to TV will be a short one, as this was cancelled, but that doesn't make it any less of a fun guilty pleasure. Plus, knowing it's only one season is such a small commitment!

Happy Endings. So I realize this show was technically in its second season this year, but starting so late in 2011 I think I can safely roll season 1 and 2 into one extended season. This has got to be the funniest show on television and it would be a real shame for you to NOT watch it.

I can't say that I actually know how you can watch these now, so you'll have to do a little research. Most channels play reruns or offer On Demand of their best shows in the summer, so maybe you can watch them that way? Otherwise, you'll have to do some searching. What shows will you miss the most this summer?

Until next time... xo

Mad About Mint: The Look for Less

I was given a fantastic idea last night after posting my first Polyvore collage. Why not create the same look, but on a way more realistic budget? With that, the Look for Less was born. I tried to recreate the outfit with all pieces being (about) $50 or less.

Mad About Mint: The Look for Less

As you can see, I'm a sucker for Target and Forever 21. Where do you shop for great trends at affordable prices?

Mad About Mint

Have any of you used Polyvore before? I just joined because I love fashion collages so I thought I'd give it a try.

I'm obsessed with the color green, mint in particular. I would be happy having an entire closet full of the color, but since that's unrealistic, I figured I would make a pretend monochrome summer outfit, with some other colors thrown in for good measure.

Mad About Mint

1, 2, 3, 4, 5
If you had to choose one color to fill your closet with, what would it be?
Until next time... xo

Summer Entertainment

May is a bittersweet time for entertainment. We are bombarded with TV shows ending for the season (can't wait for the Revenge season finale tonight!!) or forever (RIP Ringer and One Tree Hill), but then we are reunited with a whole slew of summer shows and fun summer movies.

Here's what will be keeping me busy in the coming months!

So You Think You Can Dance - returning Thursday, May 24

Pretty Little Liars - returning Tuesday, June 5

True Blood - returning Sunday, June 10

Snow White and the Huntsman - in theaters June 1

Step Up Revolution - in theaters July 27

The Hunger Games - on DVD August 18

What shows and movies are you looking forward to this summer?

Until next time... xo

Mid-Year Resolutions

It's been quite a while since I've spent any time on my much neglected blog. With nudging from friends, I've finally decided to make my blog a priority in my life again and with that, my mid-year resolutions were born.

Now, I realize "mid-year resolutions" aren't really a thing, but since I have never once in my life kept a new year resolution, why not try something a little different! Since it's almost June, and a new season is upon us, now is the perfect time. Let's begin!

  • Since Until Next Time is becoming a priority again, I will blog at least 4 times a week.
  • In order to promote a healthier sleep cycle, I will read instead of watching TV before bed.
  • In order to become a more financially responsible adult, I will create a budget and actually stick to it
  • As inspired by other bloggers, I will challenge myself to the Day Zero Project: 101 Things in 1000 Days Challenge
  • To keep both my mind and body healthy, I will work out for at least 30 minutes 5 days a week
  • In order to give myself fitness goals, I will run at least two 5K races in the next 6 months and a 10K in 2013
  • To keep up my new lifestyle, I will keep my diet healthy and stop drinking soda.
  • To help with my new healthier diet, I will cook new, healthy meals weekly.

I think this is a good start to a better, healthier - both mentally and physically - Erin. I'll be compiling my 101 in 1000 list in the next few weeks so please leave suggestions in the comments! Also, if there's anything you want to hear about on here, let me know!

Now I want to know - what will your mid-year resolutions be??

Until next time... xo

Why the Original Supermodels STILL Rule the World

I just stumbled across this sensational new video for Duran Duran's most recent single, Girl Panic! Shot by mega music video director Jonas Akerlund the video stars some of the original Supermodels - Naomi Campbell, Cindy Crawford, Eva Herzigova, Helena Christensen and Yasmin Le Bon - as the band shooting a documentary of their 30 years in the biz. 80s music, supermodels, jaw dropping fashion...what more do you need!?

They even shot a cover story with Harper's Bazaar UK about the video.

I can't stop listening to the song, so I thought I'd share. Enjoy!

Until next time... xo

Standing the Test of Time - Part 4

Believe it or not, I not only enjoy watching copious amounts of TV targeted at teenage girls, but I also love to read. Who knew, right? It's true...I even have my Kindle charged and ready to go in my purse at all times. I used to hate to read back in high school when we were tasked to read and report on the classics. I'm not really sure why I hated it so much, but getting through a book we were assigned was like pulling teeth. It wasn't until I went to college that I really began to enjoy reading for pleasure. And, I have to admit, the book that really sucked me in and got me excited about literature was Harry Potter! Since then I've even reread a lot of books from high school and have realized just how great they really are. I guess there's a reason they are taught in high schools across the country.

For part 4 of my time capsule series, I have decided that I would share with you all my favorite books. Here we go:

The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger

Valley of the Dolls by Jacqueline Susann

The Other Boleyn Girl by Philippa Gregory

Harry Potter and... (all 7 books!) by J.K. Rowling

The Hunger Games trilogy by Suzanne Collins

I realize I didn't include the Twilight books, which was a tough decision for me, especially since I have read the entire series multiple times. Don't get me wrong. I love the series, but I don't know that it should be included here. Sorry Twilight fans! There are a million (yes, that's an exact number) other books that I love that were left out too, so if you want to know what they are, just ask me! Do you all have any favorites that everyone should read at some point in their lives?

Until next time... xo

Tumbling like a Tumbleweed

One of my favorite things to do in my down time is peruse fashion/style Tumblrs. Not only do they supply me with endless beautiful pictures, but also styling ideas for myself. Since I'm feeling awfully share-y this morning, I figured I'd share some of my favorites with you!

That's all...just wanted to share :) See, I learned something in kindergarten!

Until next time... xo

Team Andrea!

For those of us masochists who indulge in the weekly horror-fest known as the Walking Dead, this post is for you! But if you haven't seen the second season premiere yet, avert your eyes (aka SPOILER ALERT!).

Since the first season provided me with ample amounts of nightmares, I decided that this season I would try my hardest to keep that from happening. I don't mean I would stop watching the show. Don't be ridiculous! I just made a new rule...I'm only allowed to watch it with plenty of time before bedtime, and I must watch something fun and frivolous before trying to go to bed to end the night on a happy note instead of a gory, horrifying one. At this point you're probably asking yourself, why the heck would Erin subject herself to something that so obviously is affecting her in a negative way. I asked myself this often, as well, but the answer remains that the show really is THAT good. For those of you who caught this week's episode and watched a heartbreaking monologue in the abandoned church by Andrew Lincoln, you would agree.

Let's get on with the recap, shall we?

The episode pretty much started where we left off last season with the survivors on the road again after the CDC explosion. They eventually encounter a massive pile up on the highway, which is good because they are able to restock supplies, but bad because here comes a massive zombie herd! The manage to hide fairly successfully, with the only exception being Andrea's attack in the RV. Oh, and then little Sophia is almost grabbed and runs into the forest, only to be chased by 2 hungry zombies. Luckily for her, Rick has no problem running after her and smashing the 2 zombies heads in with a massive rock. But unlucky for Rick, she leaves her hiding spot against his request and gets lost in the woods. A search ensues and pretty much the rest of the episode focuses on that...with a few zombie kills here and there. Sophia's mom, Carol, is mad at Rick for letting her daughter get lost in the woods. Shane is mad at Lori for accusing him of raping her in the last episode. Carl is mad that he's being treated like a kid and Shane is icing him out. Andrea is mad at Dale for forcing her to leave the CDC to save his life. So pretty much everyone is pissed off for one reason or another. Oh, and Andrea finds out about Shane and Lori's affair and blackmails Shane to let her go with him when he leaves the group. All of a sudden we hear church bells and hope that Sophia is alive and signalling the group of her whereabouts, but of course that's not the case. Members of the group pray for help, and the moment you think things may be turning around, BAM, Carl is shot while approaching a peaceful deer. Who needs zombies when humans are entirely capable of killing each other? I guess we'll find out next week whether or not Carl will live or die and who the mystery shooter is.

Now, I have to explain my "Team Andrea" title. For those of you who follow me on Twitter you would have seen my question earlier this week. Would you rather run from zombies or just become one? I've asked myself this question when I first started watching the show last year, and I pose it again, with an addendum. Would you rather run from them, become one OR take your own life? This question sparked a flight or fight debate between my boyfriend and me last night. I completely agree with Andrea's reasoning in this case. Why the heck would you want to spend your life running from and continually being attacked/almost eaten by zombies?! I realize there is a chance that the running could eventually end and that humans could win the war against zombies eventually, but come on! How much could you actually take? Rick even said in the season premiere: humans tire out, "walkers" never do! I, like Andrea, would have rather just stayed at the CDC while it self-destructed in the season finale. At least then it would be over quickly and you wouldn't have to worry about a long agonizing death as a snack for some zombies. Anyway, maybe that makes me a quitter. I call it realistic!

To end on a happier note, Pretty Little Liars comes back tonight with a special Halloween prequel episode to tide us over until the new season premieres in January. Can't wait!

Until next time... xo

Standing the Test of Time - Part 3

I'm not really sure why, being the big entertainment buff that I am, but I've never really been THAT into movies. I haven't even seen classics such as Gone With the Wind, Casablanca, Godfather, Star Wars, Bridesmaids. Ok, ok. So Bridesmaids isn't quite up there with Godfather or Casablanca, but I think it's proving the point that I don't see movies that often, since everyone I know has seen that movie. Don't get me wrong, I love movies! I guess I just have a hard time to committing to something that's longer than an hour and a half (even though I can get wrapped up for hours in TV show marathons...).

For part 3 of my time capsule, I am focusing on my 5 (I'm counting all 7 Harry Potters as one movie...it's my blog, I make the rules!) favorite movies. My list hasn't changed much over the years, so don't judge me too much! Shall we begin?

Harry Potter - Sorcerer's Stone through Deathly Hallows, part 2

Great Expectations

Interview With The Vampire

Singin' in the Rain

Meet Me in St. Louis

And a bonus one, that is really just for fun:
Zoolander

Now, I realize my list is pretty random. I am more than happy to take suggestions for more must-see movies.

For part 4, I'm going to get all academic on you all and talk books. Sound good? I hope so!

Until next time... xo

Standing the Test of Time - Part 2

It's been great getting back into the swig of things over here at Until Next Time. I forgot how much fun sharing my incredibly interesting (I know you all think so!!) thoughts with the world can be!

To continue with the series of "time capsule" shows I started earlier this week, today I will focus on the best guilty pleasure TV shows EVER! You know, the shows you love, whether it be in secret or out in the open, that tend to get you weird looks for loving them. Now, as I'm sure I've said before on this blog, I am pretty much a teenager stuck in a 20-something's body, so this list shouldn't be very surprising.

Here we go - my not-so-guilty/guilty pleasure TV shows:

Pretty Little Liars - maybe in 17 years we'll FINALLY know who A was.

The OC - Gosh, I miss Seth and Summer!

One Tree Hill - I wish Brooke Davis was a real person and we were friends.

90210 - the original, obviously. The new one cannot even come close to comparing!

Buffy/Angel - I know this is appearance #2 of Buffy on this series, but the Buffy/Angel universe is just too good to leave out!

There you have it, folks. Feel free to judge away! Or do yourselves a favor and Netflix these immediately.

What shall we discuss in Part 3? I'm thinking movies! Stay tuned...

Until next time... xo

New Season, New Wardrobe...

With every new season, a new wardrobe comes along. I've said it many times, and I'll say it again, but fall is my absolute favorite season. I've always been much happier and more comfortable in cozy sweaters than slinky tanks, so getting to move over into that part of my closet always makes me smile.

Here is what I can almost guarantee will be my uniform, paired with some skinnies, for the coming months, inspired by some of my favorite bloggers:

Oversize/Super Soft Sweaters -via This Time Tomorrow

Crisp Blouses - via Sterling Style

Cape Coats - via 9to5Chic

Statement Necklaces - via Cheetah is the New Black

Leopard Loafers - via Atlantic-Pacific

Now if only it didn't cost me an arm and a leg to go out and get all new versions of these! Maybe I need to get better at shopping at H&M, Forever 21 and Zara (and why isn't there a Topshop in SF!?!)...

Until next time... xo

Standing the Test of Time - Part 1

So the time has come for me to finally get back into blogging regularly. It has always been such an amazing creative outlet for me and I'm quite angry with myself for letting myself get away with not posting since JULY!!

Today's post was inspired by my dear friend Rebecca's wonderful idea for her daughter's first birthday party, coming up this weekend. Along with the invitation to the party, she sent us a card that we're supposed to write her daughter a note on, and which she will then open on her 18th birthday. I, being as obsessed with entertainment as I am, decided that it would be fun to give her a few lists of shows, movies, books, etc from my generation that she HAS to see.

Rather than include my entire list in one sitting, I'm going to create a series of posts breaking my list down by categories. Today, let's focus on fantastic TV shows that I think every teenage girl/young woman should watch to learn the importance of love, strength, friends and family, shall we?

Gilmore Girls

Felicity

My So-Called Life

Friday Night Lights

Buffy the Vampire Slayer

I wonder what medium kids will be watching these on 17 years from now? Streaming? DVDs? I guess we shall see...

Part 2 will focus on TV shows that are the most entertaining semi-guilty pleasures!

Until next time... xo

Does it really have to end?!

Tonight at midnight marks a bittersweet end to a decade of magic and mischief from our favorites wizards and witches at Hogwarts.

In celebration of this monumental occasion, I decided to pick 5 of my favorite scenes from all 7 films, thus far. Apologies in advance for the video quality, etc...who knew so many HP videos on YouTube would have embedding disabled!?! You get the idea though :)

Harry, Ron and Hermione's first meeting on the train on their way to Hogwarts for the first time in Sorcerer's Stone

Harry and Hermione using the time turner to save Buckbeak, et al in Prisoner of Azkaban

The Yule Ball, where we see all the kids all decked out in fancy dress in the Goblet of Fire

When Harry takes the Felix Felicis potion in the Half-Blood Prince

Harry and Hermione's heart-breaking dance (I know this isn't in the books...sue me!) in the Deathly Hallows Part 1

My tickets for tomorrow night are purchased and my tissues are in hand. Are yours?

Until next time... xo

It's been too long...

Hello Blogosphere! It's been about million years since we've seen each other. I blame it on the craziness that is the summer of weddings. But I'm back and happy to get back to what I love - sharing my thoughts with you all!

Since I haven't posted in a while, I figured I'd ease my way back with a top 5 list of what I'm currently obsessing over - from TV to fashion to books. Ready, set, go!

Pretty Little Liars

Currently my favorite, guiltiest pleasure, Pretty Little Liars brings us some of the most fun entertainment of the summer. Currently in season 2, and no closer to finder out who the hell A is!, the ladies of Rosewood, PA more than curb my evening soaps craving while the rest are on summer break. If you aren't watching, you probably should be.

The Glitter Guide

Ever since Refinery29 has an article on local SF fashion bloggers, I've become obsessed with finding inspiration from Bay Area fashionistas (you can see some of my faves in my "What I'm Reading" section to your right). I have been loving the frequent tumblr posting's on http://theglitterguide.tumblr.com/ so I couldn't wait until the actual Glitter Guide launch...which it did a few weeks ago and I LOVE it. Check it out! http://theglitterguide.com/

2011 - The Year of Weddings

Between May and October I am attending up to 9 weddings - acting as a bridesmaid in one (picture above - check out some more beautiful pics from that wedding here) and maid of honor in another. Due to this, I have become obsessed with all things weddings. From browsing J Crew, ShopBop and BHLDN constantly to find dresses to checking out wedding blogs (http://www.stylemepretty.com/ and http://mapevents.wordpress.com/ are faves) to help brides with inspiration, I feel as though I've become an accidental wedding expert. Which I must say, I don't mind at all!

The one and only Cat Deeley's new web series In The Dressing Room

I've never been shy about my obsession with So You Think You Can Dance's hostess with the mostest Cat Deeley (both her sparkling presence and amazing fashion sense). So I was beyond excited when she announced she would be having a behind the scenes web series about how she styles herself for each new episode. She really needs to win an Emmy or something (eat your heart out, Ryan Seacrest!)! Check out the whole series thus far here.

The Hunger Games Trilogy

I had been reading on entertainment news sites about casting for some new big movie based on a young adult book series and I thought to myself, I suppppppppppppose I should check them out, just so that I'm in the know. And, let me tell you, I'm so glad that I did. Completely addicting and disgustingly shocking, I quickly became obsessed with the books (reading all 3 in about a week) and cannot wait until the movie comes out in March. Read them, you won't be disappointed. I wonder what the next YA trilogy will be...

There you have it. My top 5 obsessions of the moment. Of course, I hate to leave out Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 BUT I would feel remiss not dedicating an entire post to that, so stay tuned...

Until next time... xo

"We're in business baby, the pilot's on."

It's been a very busy week in TV land. All the networks had their upfronts over the past week and announced not only their Fall 2011 Primetime lineups, but also which pilots they picked up. There are quite a few that I'm excited about so I figured I'd go ahead and post the trailers and let you decide what you think.

Here they are (listed by day of the week)!

Hart of Dixie - Mondays @ 9 on the CW

Ringer - Tuesdays @ 8 on the CW

Up All Night - Wednesdays @ 8 on NBC

Free Agents - Wednesdays @ 8:30 on NBC

And coming midseason:
Apartment 23 - on ABC

Awake - on NBC

There you have it. I am so excited to see so many of my favorites in these new shows. Christina Applegate is always amazing. I've always loved Sarah Michelle Gellar, even before my Buffy obsession. Rachel Bilson was arguably the best part of the OC. And Krysten Ritter is so fantastic and really should be a lot more famous than she is. Hopefully at least a few of these actually turn out to be good and make it through their rookie seasons. Is it Fall yet?!

For the full Fall 2011 schedule click HERE.

Until next time... xo

Monday, May 2, 2011

"Spotted on the steps of the Met: an S and B power struggle."

Sarah Burton is having a crazy busy Spring, isn't she? Not only did she custom design multiple wedding dresses for Kate Middleton (excuse me, Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge) and her sister, Pippa (how AMAZING did she look in her white gown for the ceremony?), she, as the Creative Director of Alexander McQueen again had all eyes on her this evening at the 2011 Metropolitan Museum's Costume Institute Gala, Alexander McQueen's Savage Beauty.

The Met Gala, also known as the Oscars of the East Coast or the Super Bowl of Fashion, always serves as a sartorial highlight of the year. I'll admit that I was glued to my computer, refreshing my fashion blogs constantly trying to catch a glimpse of my favorite stars dressed to the nines. While I'm surprised there wasn't more McQueen catching my eye (I do tend to LOVE him on the red carpet), my eyeballs were still treated to some luxurious, envy-inducing gowns on some of the most beautiful ladies of Hollywood.

Here are my favorites, in no particular order:

Coco Rocha in Alexander McQueen

Isla Fisher in Tory Burch

Evan Rachel Wood in Gucci

Bar Rafaeli in Reem Acra

Dianna Agron in Michael Kors

Zoe Saldana in Calvin Klein

Penelope Cruz in Oscar de la Renta

Nicole Richie in Jason Wu

Margherita Missoni in Missoni

Lea Michele in Escada

Kristen Stewart in Proenza Schouler

Gwyneth Paltrow in Stella McCartney

Gisele Bundchen in Alexander McQueen

Diane Kruger in Jason Wu

Ashley Greene in Donna Karan

Seeing all these stunning gowns has really gotten me excited to glam it up this summer at all the weddings I'm attending. I wonder if any of these designers would want to lend their dresses to me... What do you think the chance of that would be?

Maybe I'll have a chance to visit the exhibit when I'm in New York next month. If nothing else, the Balenciaga exhibit at the De Young Museum here in San Francisco.

Until next time... xo
