"It took me a really long time to get here, but I'm here. Carrie, you're the one."

Unless you've been living under a rock, you probably know that Sex and the City 2 opened today in theaters. Apparently I'm all about honoring things lately, what with the SYTYCD post yesterday, so I'll keep at it with a special dedication to the best relationship on the show/movie: Carrie and Big.

It wasn't always smooth sailing for these two, and we all know Carrie had plenty of other relationships along the way (Aidan, Berger, Aleksandr), but I've always been, and will always be Big's number 1 fan.

Let's start from the beginning, shall we?

In the pilot episode Carrie and Big share a few very brief, awkward moments together. The first time they ever see each other is when he bumps into her and then helps her gather up her stash of condoms. At the very end of the episode they share a series defining car ride, where Big asks her an important question, "have you ever been in love?" in which she's unable to answer. This bring us to my first favorite Carrie/Big moment of the series:

The two shared many good moments and bad throughout the course of the first and second seasons. In a particularly heartbreaking episode, Big tells Carrie he plans to move away to Paris. Carrie thinks she can deal, but inevitably ends up breaking down and realizing Big may not feel the same way about the relationship that she does. Which led to the following:

Later in the season Carrie discovers that Big became engaged while away in Paris. Initially the shock of it tears her to pieces, but then she realizes that he really just wasn't ready for her:

Well, so much for Carrie and Big's big ending. While many fans loved Carrie and Aidan together, I was hoping that somehow Carrie and Big would end up back together, even though he was gone and married. This dilemma led to some pretty scandalous Carrie moments, starting with the beginning of their affair:

While Carrie eventually realizes the error of her ways, and ends things, I still had hopes for their reconciliation. Lucky for me, Big gets divorced, Carrie and Aidan break up and here we go, they're both single again!

One of the lines I probably quote the most from the entire series occurs within the following clip. Carrie had just split from Aidan (again) and Big tells her that he's leaving New York. In a simple, yet romantic moment they share memories, pizza and a dance:

Fast forward to the very last episode of the series.

Carrie had been stuck in Paris, miserable and fighting with Aleksandr, when Big, in the most romantic of gestures, surprises her there to tell her she's "the one":

Finally, Carrie and Big are together. Hopefully this time it sticks!! We even find out his real name, which if that doesn't mean commitment, I don't know what does.

As you know from the first movie, they do end up getting married, but not without heartbreak, trial and tribulation. The trailers for the new movie show us that Aidan is being thrown back into the mix, which will inevitably cause Carrie to question her relationship with Big, but I really hope they still end up together in the end.

Until next time... xo

"I am the best goddamn dancer in the American Ballet Academy. Who the hell are you? Nobody."

Now that the 9th season of American Idol has come to an end (how AMAZING was Christina Aguilera's performance??), and my newest crush, Lee DeWyze has been crowned this year's winner, we can move on to the best show of the summer: So You Think You Can Dance!

In honor of the show's return Thursday, May 27, I thought I would dedicate a post to my favorite host on TV, the lovely Cat Deeley. Ever since I started watching the show in season 4, she has quickly become a fashion favorite of mine. She is always styled to perfection, which she does herself...a rarity in Hollywood. She has admitted herself that looking back she sometimes thinks her looks were misses, but in my opinion, she always looks great on both the red carpet (which I could probably do a whole other post about) and the show.

That being said, below I will countdown my top 10 Cat Deeley looks over the past few seasons:

10. Sleek in purple Balenciaga dress and DSquared2 platforms

9. Sparkly in a Matthew Williamson mini dress and Sergio Rossi heels

8. Wild in a vintage tiger dress and Camilla Skoovgard heels

7. Bright in a Yigel Azrouel dress and Jimmy Choo pumps

6. Fresh in an Alexander Wang dress

5. Chic in a Jasmine di Milo dress and Alexander McQueen heels

4. Classic in an Yves Saint Laurent "Le Smoking" tuxedo

3. Perfectly tousled in an Alexander Wang dress

2. Flirty (and thrifty!) in a Zara dress, vintage Chloe belt and Christian Louboutin pumps

1. And finally, with a tie for first, modern with a nod to the 20's in a white and gold beaded flapper dress

And spectacular (and thrifty, again!) in a sequin Topshop dress and Sergio Rossi heels

I can't wait to see what she comes up with this season!

Until next time... xo

"My mom won't even let me watch Twilight. She says she thinks Kristen Stewart seems like a bitch."

As per usual, I thoroughly enjoyed last night's episode of Glee. I'll admit, it wasn't my favorite, but I'm wondering if that's due to the fact that I MAY have over-hyped it a bit in my head considering it was a combination of two of my favorite things of the moment: Glee and Lady Gaga. AND, I didn't even know it would include so many references to one of my other favorite things: vampires!

Let's recap the best parts of the night, shall we?

As I said before, I had no idea this episode would also include so many references to one of the biggest crazes of the moment, vampires...and specifically, Twilight. The episode starts out with Tina being called into Principal Figgins' office because he thinks she's a vampire and wants her to change her look. In the end, Tina rebels against Figgins' wishes because without her look, she feels lost. One of the best moments is when she convinces him that she and her family are indeed vampires, but not only that, her father is the head of the vampires, so he backs down and let's her dress as she pleases. Maybe Figgins should take his own advice and stop reading so much Twilight!

Moving along to my other obsession: Gaga!

New Directions' assignment this week was Lady Gaga and the ladies of the club really went all out. Who knew a bunch of high school kids were so handy with a sewing machine? With the exception of Rachel, whose two gay dads stapled stuffed animals onto a dress for her (that sounds dangerous, no?), all the girls, and Kurt, threw together pretty amazing Lady Gaga outfits overnight. All this led to the best song of the night. And, by the way, who else thinks Santana needs more solos?

Luckily for Rachel, once she realized Shelby was her mother, she was able to have her help create a much better outfit. Which brings me to my final thought. Indina Menzel and Lea Michele are both incredible singers and every time I listen to their original duet, I Dreamed A Dream, I get chills. Ryan Murphy - I have a request. Can we please keep Shelby around for a while and have Shelby/Rachel duets more regularly? Thanks!

Anyway, I really did love their Poker Face, however I couldn't help but wonder whether or not they should have done a different song. Speechless perhaps? I feel as though that song would have been more appropriate for the moment. If I'm not mistaken, I'm pretty sure Lady Gaga wrote that song for her father. Regardless, Rachel and Shelby together created another beautiful duet that I know will be playing constantly on my iPod.

All in all, I was very pleased with the episode and I can't wait for next week. Looks like Terri will finally make her return and will surely be there to stir up trouble! And did I see that Jesse St. James will be back in Vocal Adrenaline?? Just when you think he was actually there to do good, we're slapped with cold, hard reality that he was indeed just playing a game.

Until next time... xo

"I can do affordable fashion. I mean, I know where all the sales are."

A few years ago I made a rule for myself: if you haven't worn something in over 6 months, you need to get rid of it! Being the somewhat typical Virgo that I am, I have been pretty good at sticking to that rule.

And hey, who doesn't use getting rid of things as an excuse to buy new stuff?!

Recently a dear friend decided that it would be a fun idea to host a fashion swap party. Coincidentally, I had just done my regular cleaning out of my closet the day before the email invite came! Basically the gist of the event would be that everyone goes through their closets (clothes, shoes, bags, accessories, etc) and rather than bringing everything over to Good Will, as per usual, we'd all get together for cocktails and the opportunity to "shop" in each others' closets. Whatever is left over would be donated to Good Will or Salvation Army. A particular item of clothing that you've had for years and are bored with now, may be exactly the thing someone else is looking for. You may have been eying a beautiful cocktail dress your friend wore to a wedding last summer, and now that she's done with it, it can be yours!

Now, I'm not necessarily the biggest clothes "borrower", but as someone who is constantly purging her wardrobe, it is good to know that if there's ever a possibility you'd want to wear something again, you know where it went.

And you never know...what if one of the girls shows up with an old Marc Jacobs handbag that you drooled over a few years back?!

Until next time... xo

"It's good to know that the ones you love will always be in your heart. And if you're very lucky, only a plane ride away. "

I just came across a trailer for a movie coming out this summer that looks like the perfect combination of chick flick and comedy.

Going the Distance, starring real-life couple Drew Barrymore and Justin Long is about a brand new couple who are dealing with the struggle of the dreaded LDR (long distance relationship for you non-acronym people out there). Check out the trailer.

<a href="http://video.msn.com/?mkt=en-us&from=sp&fg=MsnEntertainment_MoviesTrailersGP2_a&vid=d60f3cf8-2176-4b2b-b797-de1384117257" target="_new" title="Exclusive: 'Going the Distance' Trailer">Video: Exclusive: 'Going the Distance' Trailer</a>

Now, I think what really intrigues me about this movie, besides Drew Barrymore's character being named Erin, is the cast. Not only does it include It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia's resident wild card Charlie Day (wasn't I JUST talking about him venturing out?), but it also has the always hilarious Jim Gaffigan, Christina Applegate, SNL's Jason Sudeikis and Flight of the Conchords' Kristen Schaal. I think that this is what takes it out of standard "rom com" territory and takes it to a more "Knocked Up", "Forgetting Sarah Marshall" and "I Love You, Man" kind of place. A chick flick/romantic comedy in disguise! Plus, it looks like it partly takes place in SF (as well as NY), which is always fun for the Bay Area gal in me.

I am getting very excited for all the fun movies coming out in the next few months!!

Until next time... xo

"Our love would be forever. And if we die, we die together. Well I, I said never. Cause our love would be forever."

Quick update to yesterday's post.

The video for Muse's Neutron Star Collision (Love is Forever) was released this morning. And, of course it includes lots of clips from Eclipse. Well mostly clips of Bella and Edward brooding, but what else would you expect?

Enjoy!

I always forget how much I love Muse! If you ever have a chance to see them in concert, go! You will not be disappointed.

Until next time... xo

"Edward, there’s no point to forever without you. I wouldn’t want one day without you."

It's been a while since I talked about Twilight, so I figured I'd share a tidbit I discovered today. Last week the soundtrack to Eclipse was announced and I was very pleased with the array of artists included in the list.

I was able to find the full song for the first official single, Neutron Star Collison (Love is Forever) by Muse and I love it! I'm a huge fan on Muse and since Stephenie Meyer is too, their songs are always included in the soundtracks. The video will be released tomorrow, but at least we can enjoy the song today!

Here is the full track listing:

1. Metric- Eclipse (All Yours)
2. MUSE- Neutron Star Collision (Love Is Forever)
3. The Bravery- Ours
4. Florence + The Machine- Heavy In Your Arms
5. Sia- My Love
6. Fanfarlo- Atlas
7. The Black Keys- Chop And Change
8. The Dead Weather- Rolling In On A Burning Tire
9. Beck and Bat For Lashes- Let's Get Lost
10. Vampire Weekend- Jonathan Low
11. UNKLE- With You In My Head (Feat. The Black Angels)
12. Eastern Conference Champions- A Million Miles An Hour
13. Band of Horses- Life On Earth
14. Cee Lo Green- What Part of Forever
15. Howard Shore- Jacob's Theme

The album will be available June 8. Be sure that I'll be downloading it! Although, if I had the authority to add some songs, I would definitely include one from the Robotanists. Wait a Minute Here perhaps?

Maybe it will get scooped up for Breaking Dawn.

Until next time... xo
