"It's a new TV show. It's what they call a pilot. And we hope it becomes a series."

September really is my favorite month of the year. One of the main reasons for this: the new season of TV! It all begins this week, with the second season premiere of one of my favorite new shows of 2009, Vampire Diaries. Everything else picks back up over the next few weeks.

With the return of our favorite shows, also come all the new pilots, waiting to be picked up and become a regular series. There are a few this season that I am really looking forward to: Fox's Running Wilde and Lone Star and ABC's My Generation. I figured I'd do a little breakdown of what each of these shows are about and why they may make it into my weekly television schedule.

Running Wilde. I am very much looking forward to this show for a number of reasons. As a new fan of Arrested Development (I know, late to the game) and a fan of Will Arnett, I can only imagine how hilarious this will be. Plus, I LOVE Keri Russell (I wonder where Felicity would be today...) and I am so excited to be able to see her on a weekly basis. In a comedy, no less. I think throwing dramatic actors and actresses into a comedy creates some of the most classic TV moments. Check out the promo:

Lone Star. As far as I can tell from the previews for this new drama, it has everything a show could possibly need to keep fans wanting more. Intrigue, deception, sex and of course, hot actors. People love a good con movie, so I can only imagine how interesting this show could get. Plus, as a new fan of Friday Night Lights, I'm excited to see Adrianne Palicki in a new series. Check out the promo:

My Generation. As a graduate of the class of 2000 I feel like I need to at least give this show a chance. I think most people my age could really relate to many of the things that will end up happening within the course of this show, and I'm excited to see where it goes. Check out the promo:

I guess we shall see whether or not these shows find any success. I'm hoping that they entertain us as much as some of the new shows of last seasons did.

Until next time... xo

"Oh, I'm not going. I decided to stay open. I could use the business."

This time of year is always kind of bittersweet for TV lovers, such as myself. May usually means season finales, and many of my favorite shows are coming or have come to an end until September. Luckily though, it also means the return of one of my favorite shows of the summer, So You Think You Can Dance!

Check out one of my favorite routines from season 4, which features two of the all-star dancers returning this season, Courtney Galiano and Mark Kanemura (who is also a back up dancer for Lady Gaga!):

Back to the finales. I happened to catch up on all my CW shows' season finales yesterday: Vampire Diaries, One Tree Hill and Gossip Girl. I must say, I was very impressed by Vampire Diaries and Gossip Girl and only mildly impressed by One Tree Hill, which as of today, has officially been picked up for an eighth season.

Vampire Diaries is probably my second favorite new show of the year, after Glee, and the past few episodes, the finale in particular, definitely did not disappoint. I'm sure you can tell by reading my blog that I love the vampires, which I'll admit is what initially turned me on to the show. But after watching the first few episodes, I was sucked (pun not intended) in. Anyway, back to the finale (I seem to keep getting myself sidetracked today).

One of the most "shocking" parts was the appearance of present day Katherine, who we've only met in flash backs thus far. I have to give it up to Nina Dobrev who plays both the angelic human Elena and her ancestor, the manipulative vampire Katherine.

Plus, it was fun to see her be evil and get a little up close and personal with Damon, for a change. I can't wait to see how all the events from the evening, Katherine's arrival, Jeremy's suicide-to-become-a-vampire attempt, among others play out in the fall. I wonder where it will pick up in the season premiere.

Gossip Girl has been up and down for me all season, but the past few episodes have really reminded me why I loved the show initially. While many of the finale surprises were spoiled by multiple videos and interviews over the past few weeks, I still found myself entertained, and a bit shocked at some of the events as the occurred. Georgina is pregnant with Dan's baby! Chuck gets mugged and shot in Prague! And even though I knew it was going to happen, Little J leaving was a happy moment for me. Her character has really been annoying me lately.

And, she and Chuck really blew it when they slept together immediately after he thought Blair ditched him at the top of the Empire State building. Supposedly, if you believe things you read on the internet, this won't be the end of Chuck and Blair though. Maybe he'll gain some sympathy points after being shot in Prague. I'm excited for the beginning of next season...it will start in France with Blair and Serena (and word on the street, Chuck).

One Tree Hill has really been struggling the past few seasons. Some may even say it jumped the shark after they ended high school and fast forwarded 4 years. I think it hopped (not fully jumped) the shark this season by introducing an almost entirely new cast. Is it awful of me to say that my favorite part of the season was probably the very last scene of the finale, with Clay and Quinn (the most pointless characters on TV) getting shot by a crazy ex-wife doppelganger? I'm just glad that they finally gave Brooke a happy ending with her engagement and they decided to have Haley come back to being normal. I just think they focused WAY too much time on the new cast this year, and I'm glad we've at least gotten rid of two of them! I really do think Brooke, Haley and Nathan got the short end of the stick this season.

Let's hope the focus of season 8 is Brooke and Julian and Nathan and Haley. Especially since Sophia Bush is most likely going to have to turn down the pilot she was recently cast for. Who am I kidding? I'll probably watch it regardless.

At least I have a few more weeks of Glee to look forward to!

Until next time... xo

"Hello? Hey, I got places to go, friends to kill. Well, not actually my friends, but you get the idea."

For some reason, we always love the bad boys!

This week's episode of Vampire Diaries really brought that to light, especially for me. Since the show's premiere this past fall, I've always been drawn to Damon, the bad boy older brother of Stefan, played by Ian Somerhalder and Paul Wesley, respectively. But this week we got to see a new side of Stefan, due to his renewed human blood addiction.

It's so refreshing to see him not so broody for a change. Don't get me wrong, I do love a good brood every once in a while, and there is something sexy about the mysterious guy, but seeing Stefan being more like Damon this week was so much more fun to watch. For those of you not familiar with the show (click HERE for full episodes), or the books for that matter (although they are very different from the show) Damon and Stefan Salvatore are brothers who were both turned into vampires back in the day by conniving Katherine, who both were in love with. Flash forward to present day where they meet Elena, Katherine's double, and all hell breaks loose!

Damon has always been the "evil" brother, owning up to the idea that he's a vampire and human blood is what makes him strong, whereas Stefan, ashamed of the monster he's become, will only drink animal blood to survive. In last week's episode, Stefan was forced to drink Elena's blood to survive an attack and save her life, which basically turned him back into an addict. What was great about this week, was that Stefan, in order to curb his craving, became a drunk, which was hilarious to watch and made for some pretty appealing moments for him. He actually became fun, like Damon always is!

Now, I must mention my favorite good vamp gone bad in this post - Angel becoming Angelus in both Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel.

As much as I loved good vamp Angel, some of the best moments on both shows were when his curse was broken and he reverted back to the evil, maniacal Angelus. I found a great video this morning with some of the best Angelus moments throughout both Buffy and Angel.

This brings me back to a conversation I had with a friend a few months back. If I walked into a bar and saw one table with Damon from Vampire Diaries, Eric from True Blood, Angelus from Buffy and Angel, and Spike, also from Buffy and Angel and another table with Stefan from Vampire Diaries, Bill from True Blood, Angel from Buffy and Angel and Edward from Twilight, which would I choose to sit and hang with? Why the table with the fun-loving, "bad" vamps of course! Who wants to hang out with a bunch of broody, feeling sorry for themselves guys at a bar?

Until next time... xo
